Locksmith EmployeeThe registration the individual technician holds. Separate from the company's.

Two licenses, and people mix them up

A Locksmith Company license belongs to the business. A Locksmith Employee registration belongs to the technician. They are different things.

That matters. A company can be properly licensed and still send out somebody who is not registered. Ask about both.

The State runs a Department of Justice check and an FBI check on every applicant, partner and officer of a locksmith company. Employees are fingerprinted too. They may work on a temporary registration for up to 120 days while that clears.

And one more license, for bigger jobs

A locksmith license covers locksmith work. Once a single job at one site passes $500 including labor and materials, California also wants a contractor's license: a C-28, C-61 or D-16.

For a lockout, a rekey or a key, this never comes up. For a full door replacement or access control across a building, ask whoever is bidding.

Insurance

We carry liability insurance. Need a certificate for a property manager, a building or an insurer? Ask when you call and we will have it sent.

And the part nobody advertises

We ask for identification every time. Photo ID, plus something that connects you to the car or the property. Registration, title, a lease, a utility bill in your name.

It is not a formality and it is not about you. A locksmith who opens anything for anybody will open yours for somebody else.

Cannot produce it at the curb? Say so on the phone and we will work out what you can show. What we will not do is skip it.

Need someone now?

A person answers, at any hour, in English or Spanish. If it is not urgent, we will hold a day and a time for you instead.

Or leave your details and we will call you.
